WATER PREP:
Without properly cleaning your home, the new paint
won't stick well and will peel prematurely. This step includes
a complete pressure washing of all eaves, gutters, siding, and trim
to remove loose dirt and paint. A mixture of bleach and trisodium
phosphate is applied to all surfaces beforehand to remove and kill
mold, algae, mildew, and acid-rain residue.
DRY PREP:
Most painters take shortcuts here to save time and money. These
steps are critical for a durable job.
Scraping
& Sanding
All loose paint left or actually knocked loose by the pressure
washing is scraped or sanded off to produce the optimum stable
surface for paint application.
Caulking
& Filling
All windows, doors, joints, seams, cracks, and
knots in the siding are
caulked with a special elastomeric 25-year acrylic terpolymer resin
caulk. This special formula caulking truly makes a
difference. Gouges, chips, and open knotholes are filled with
wood fiber putty.
PAINT
APPLICATION:
You know from experience that most paint jobs just don't last. It's
the prep work that makes the difference.
IF OUR PAINT JOB LASTS YOU TWICE AS LONG, THEN
IT REALLY ONLY COSTS YOU HALF AS MUCH!
Masking
Much care will be taken to avoid overspray on structures
surrounding and adjacent to the home. Windows, doors, rooflines,
plants, and decks will be properly masked and covered with drop
cloths to contain overspray.
Siding
Paint
The siding receives two coats of paint unless otherwise specified.
On cedar, spruce or fir siding, the first coat is backrolled or
brushed to insure maximum penetration and adhesion. The second coat
is sprayed only for a final flow finish coat. On composite siding,
both coats are sprayed, because composite siding is smoother than
real wood, so paint 'skids' off with a roller or brush.
Trim
Paint
Trim receives one, two or three coats of paint depending on the
condition of the wood and the color of the paint we are using.
This is applied by brush and roller only.
Front
Door
To be sprayed with a semi-gloss oil enamel finish
unless otherwise specified. This produces the most professional and
smoothest finish coat possible. This method also enables us
to apply four to five coats for a thick and durable finish, rather
than just one or two coats commonly used in a brush and roll
application.
Cleanup
We take great pride in each and every home we paint. We thoroughly
remove masking, drop cloths, and any caulking or paint debris, so
you will be proud of your "NEW HOME"!
